Hollywood isn’t exactly known for creating “I do’s” that last forever, but it’s still disheartening when celebrities part ways after taking the (ideally) sacred vows.
It’s been announced by Us Weekly that Mamie Gummer, the Side Effects actress, who happens to be a certain screen legend’s daughter (Meryl Streep), has split from her husband, the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter star, Benjamin Walker.
An insider suggests that the split is still “very new.” The two met back in 2008 during a Broadway production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Benjamin was clearly smitten with his leading lady. "She was the Uma to my Keanu," he said in an interview with New Yorkmagazine just a couple months ago in. The romance blossomed from there and the two were engaged back in 2009 when Benjamin, down on one knee, surprised Mamie with a custom-made ring.
“My mom loves him!” gushed the blonde beauty, who bears a striking resemblance to her multi-Oscar-winning mom. She and Benjamin wed in 2011 at Mamie’s family estate in Connecticut. The two have since shared a home in Brooklyn together.
So sad to see good love go bad, but at least there are no children caught up in the mix! And fortunately, the two are remaining, as Mamie’s rep says, “very amicable.”
