Blake Shelton Says He’d Never Sit Out a Season on The Voice, But Would Quit Entirely
After coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green opted to take Season 4 off from The Voice, the rumor mill started buzzing about returning veterans Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. The official Season 5 coaches haven’t been announced yet, but word on the street is that the original four will return in fall 2013.
But that doesn’t mean Blake isn’t contemplating his final days in the big red chair. In a recent interview with Billboard, the country crooner talked about his demanding schedule.
"Something has to give at some point, as it's like trying to hold back a river. I've got to get back to what I love most – which is performing live,” he said. “That's why I got into this business. But, I don't want to look back one day and say 'Oh, man. I wish I would have tried this or that to see what it would be like. The Voice has been what has led to me a lot of those type things, like the Christmas special or Reba [McEntire]'s show [Malibu Country]. I can't even think of all the things I've gotten to do because of that. So, I don't want to just give it up.”
Blake also said that he wouldn’t considering simply taking off one season from the show the way some of his co-stars have done this spring.
“I can't imagine me just sitting out a season,” he said. “I think I'm either going to do it and keep doing it, or not. I don't see me walking away then coming back. That doesn't make sense to me. I think it's a phase, and once that chapter is over, it's over."
Well, let’s hope it won’t be over for quite some time then! The Voice has been renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 and with the NBC-saving ratings the show provides, we have a feeling it will be here to stay.
