Glee’s Cory Monteith Checks into Rehab — Breaking News
Well, this is sad news indeed.
Cory Monteith (Finn) has checked into a rehab facility for treatment for substance abuse, according to People Magazine. A rep for the Glee actor tells the magazine that Cory "has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction."
"He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery," the statement continues.
Cory's co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele also issued a statement. "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," she tells People. "I am grateful and proud he made this decision."
This isn't the first time Cory has battled with substance abuse. In an interview with Parade in 2011, Cory talked about his drug abuse in his late teens, culminating in his first rehab program at the age of 19. Of his dark teenage past, Cory revealed that he used to do “anything and everything, as much as possible.”
Of course, many people will relapse after successfully completing rehab, even after years of sobriety. We are heartened to learn that Cory is on the road to recovery.
At this time, we have no information as to whether or how Cory's rehab will affect the shooting schedule for Glee, which has not yet wrapped filming for Season 4. Our thoughts are with Cory during this difficult time.
