Joan Rivers has never been one to mince words, and it seems that the legendary comedienne isn’t one to back down from a mean-spirited joke, either.
In an interview with HuffPost Live, Joan decided to relaunch her campaign against Adele’s waistline, which she started this winter during an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman. In her Feb. 26 gabfest with Dave, Joan, who made repeated gestures to indicate her feelings about the British songbird’s unacceptable girth, had joked with the host, "She was very scared because she was singing at the [Oscars]. She kept saying, 'My throat, my throat — I don't know if I can swallow.' And I said, 'Oh, yeah! You can swallow.'"
Rather than backing down in her latest interview, Joan added, "It's not mean. She's a chubby lady who's very, very rich, and she should just calm down — or lose weight! She wanted an apology, so I took an ad out on her ass. I said, 'You are not fat.' And then I had room for a lot of other ads.
"Adele is beautiful and successful and has what, $100 million? Let's face reality: she's fat!"
