Is Glee Over For Good?

It’s hard to believe that Glee Season 4 is almost done but even harder to believe that Fox still hasn’t confirmed that the show will return for a fifth season. How can they keep us in the dark for so long?!

Fox has already renewed a slew of shows for its upcoming fall schedule, and while the network doesn’t need to make official decisions on which shows are returning until its May upfronts presentations to advertisers, you would think a high-profile show like Glee would have gotten the nod already.

So what’s the holdup? Of course, the fact that leading man Cory Monteith (Finn) just checked into rehab probably won’t help, but with the show about to go on break for the summer, there’s no reason he couldn’t still be back for Season 5.

TV Line claims that “protracted negotiations” are causing the show’s return to still be up in the air, although we hope things will be worked out very soon. Then again, you never really know if a show is returning until it’s made official.

Providing us with a sense of light at the end of the tunnel is the fact that Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly recently revealed that he and Glee’s producers were already thinking about possible changes to Season 5, including moving the show entirely to NYC.

"Yes, that is a real possibility," Kevin said in January about moving all the characters to the Big Apple. "We're going to negotiate now for the fifth season and beyond, so we're talking about those things now."

So in all likelihood, Glee will end up getting a fifth season, and all this profuse sweating we’ve all been doing (we’re not the only ones — right, guys?) will be for naught. Still, crossing your fingers and knocking on all nearby wood can’t hurt either.
