Dancing With the Stars 2013: Why Was Wynonna Judd Eliminated?

Lesson of the week: When Def Leppard says pour some sugar, you pour that sugar good!

Wynonna Judd and her pro partner Tony Dovolani looked like rock stars on Dancing With the Stars Season 16 Week 3, but she never really relaxed and let loose on the dance floor. She was always too tentative. Tony did his part — he went all out, beyond wearing that hilarious costume — but unfortunately Wynonna just couldn’t keep up with the other less inhibited cast members and was eliminated from the competition. Still love her, though!

Wynonna had the bottom score on the leaderboard — a 15 out of 30 that she did earn — so it makes sense that she’s gone. Perhaps D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke weren’t in the bottom two with Wynonna and Tony because the judges were more harsh with their words when addressing D.L. (And Len Goodman was in no mood to apologize.) Maybe they got sympathy votes, on top of their own fan bases. Instead, poor Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess were stuck in the bottom two, which is probably going to increase Andy’s neuroses. But we love you, Andy! Just keep your shirt on and keep working hard.

Since we had a brand new bottom two this week, does that mean viewers voted based on the actual dancing they saw, or did fans rally to save Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko and Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold, who were in the bottom last week? Lisa and Gleb were “in jeopardy,” but that doesn’t really mean anything. We know the bottom two, but the third couple could be anyone. Should we worry about Andy and Sharna next week or was this just a blip that will be corrected next week, like Lisa and Victor weren’t in the bottom this week? Guess we’ll find out.

Other things we found out on the Results Show: Zendaya Coleman and Jacoby Jones were voted Prom Queen and King. (We thought it would be Kellie and ... Derek, if he was eligible.) It gave them two extra points they probably didn’t need, but it also gave us a clue as to who is drumming up fan interest on Twitter. Zendaya does have more than 2 million followers, so it’s possible they’ll keep voting for her until she becomes the youngest winner ever.

What has being on the show meant to her? “I faced one of my biggest fears and I’ve made a lifetime friend out of Tony,” Wynonna said. “These dancers are champions. This is the hardest job I’ve ever loved. I’m a singer, not a dancer. I did the best I could and I can’t wait to going back to making my record, and I love my country music fans more than ever.”
