Nicki Minaj and Devin Velez’s Twitter War Continues Ad Nauseum

That now-infamous Twitter war between Devin Velez and Nicki Minaj? That’s water under the bridge. Or is it? In case you missed it, during his recent press conference after being eliminated, the season 12 American Idol hopeful addressed Nicki’s harsh critique of his giant hot mess group performance with Burnell Taylor, and Lazaro Arbos.

As the Chicago native put it, “I agree with the first half of her critique, when she said that it felt like it was Hollywood week, that it was a joke, that stuff like that should not happen, that she was going to pretend that she didn't hear it.” But he didn’t stop there, saying, "When she went crazy - when she was like 'get off the stage, blah blah blah' and it's just like 'whoa Miss Minaj, I need you to calm down please.'"

Not that anyone expected her to, but Her Minajesty did not exactly take the high road, going on Twitter to vent in a series of comments on the matter. One of the tweets read, “Send the judges some flowers and a card. If Curtis didn't get SAVED, NONE of u get saved! Best male voice of the SEASON!!!!!!!!!!! #TruthTea.”

Devin learned a hard lesson about the internet, in that once you send something out into the ether, it’s out there. While he tried to remove a recent Tweet, many had already seen it. It read, “That moment when an adult stoops down to the 3rd grade level ... LOL grow up Hun, I've got songs to write. #movingforward."

Clearly, neither one of these folks have even seen the high road, let alone taken it. However, Devin did try to backtrack a bit on a Tuesday morning visit to the Today Show.

"I think she goes as far as she's wanting to go," the recently ousted singer said of Nicki’s reaction to the group performance. "I still love her."

For the record, however, he still maintains the comments shouldn’t have been directed at him (see comments about high road!).

"The way my mother raised me is that when people are talking about you, and it's not (really) about you, you shouldn't take (offense)," he explained. "So when she was saying things, like, 'You forgot your lyrics and you were off-pitch,' with all due respect, I wasn't off-pitch, nor did I forget my lyrics."

Not that he’s throwing anyone under the bus, but his name rhymes with Schmazzaro.

What do you think of the online feud between Devin and Nicki?
