America’s Next Top Model Designer Sentenced for Sexual Assault
Here's some upsetting news: Anand Jon Alexander, a fashion designer who has appeared on America's Next Top Model, had been sentenced to jail in New York City for sexually assaulting a would-be model.
As the Associated Press reports, Anand Jon Alexander has actually already been sentenced to serving 59 years in California for similar crimes. In the NYC case, he plead guilty to "one count of criminal sexual act in February for sexually assaulting a woman he baited with the promise of modeling work."
Anand was originally charged with "preying on a dozen women, but the figure then dropped to three. Prosecutors said some of the victims were minors, and some were drugged when he forced himself on them." He was offered a plea deal "so that the women wouldn't have to testify again and because he is already serving substantial prison time" in California.
Despite the plea deal, Anand's mother and sister maintain that he is innocent, and the courtroom was reportedly filled with his fans and supports.
