Grey’s Anatomy Season 9, Episode 20 Sneak Peek: Doctors in the Dark — Literally

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9, Episode 20: “She’s Killing Me” has plenty of interesting and dramatic plot lines — including Meredith’s genetic markers for Alzheimer’s, a mysterious outbreak, and April coming clean to Matthew about her not-so-virgin status — but there is one that stands out: new doctors.

The synopsis of the episode mentioned that "Syrian doctors arrive at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for a crash course in basic surgical skills that they plan to apply in the field,” but there was no further information about what exactly they’d be doing, and who they would be working with.

Thanks to a new sneak peek clip, we have a few answers, yet we’re also in the dark — literally.

As Chief Hunt tries to teach the Syrian doctors about the “circumstances in the field hospital,” he is thrown for a loop when the doctors throw all of his basic tools aside, explaining that since supply trucks can’t reach them, their options are very limited and there are many instruments they cannot use.

And the biggest twist? They turn off all of the lights on Owen, Arizona, and April since “electricity is unreliable,” using only a flashlight to illuminate the fake body in front of them.

We’re still unsure about how this fits into the current plot, but hey — at least the trio of doctors will be prepared for the next disaster at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital!

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9, Episode 20: “She’s Killing Me” airs Thursday, April 3 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
