Grey’s Anatomy Shane Ross: Intern Report Card — Should He Stay?

As a teaching hospital, the newly named Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital takes in new interns every year. Occasionally, Grey’s Anatomy lets us meet them. This year’s interns are an all-female crew, with one exception: Dr. Shane Ross (Gaius Charles).

It’s time to find out how well Shane has done so far in his first year as a surgical intern! We will be grading him on his intelligence, or surgical skills, his interaction with the other doctors, and how interested he keeps us in finding out what will happen to him next.

Let’s see how he did!

Intelligence: B. Shane clearly knows what he’s doing in the OR — or else there’s no way Derek would have let him scrub in on so many of his surgeries. But although he’s trying to learn, Shane isn’t the best at dealing with patients, especially when he has to deliver bad news.

Interaction: C. Shane isn’t really interested in making friends or creating lasting bonds with anyone in the hospital, even his fellow interns. All Shane appears to care about is making sure he gets in his time with Derek, who he worships. It’s important for him to stay on his game, especially as a hopeful neurosurgeon in the making, but Shane should try to form interpersonal relationships too!

Interest: C. Shane’s storylines have been somewhat of a snoozefest this season, and that makes it hard to care about what he might have going on next year. Get this kid a few romantic entanglements and a sense of humor, and we might be in business!

Final Grade: C+
