Who Are the Youngest and Oldest Tonight Show Hosts? You’ll Be Shocked!
Jimmy Fallon has finalized a deal to take over for Jay Leno as host of The Tonight Show in 2014, but he's nowhere near the youngest person to host.
Jimmy is currently 38, and the youngest host of the show was Steve Allen back in 1954, who was only 32 at the time.
Meanwhile, even more shocking is the oldest-ever host of the show.
When Conan O'Brien took the reins as 46-year-old host in 2009, he was seen as a breath of fresh air when compared to the much-older Leno and Letterman.
However, Conan was actually the oldest person ever to start hosting the show for the first time! Crazy!
In fact, younger viewers might think of Johnny Carson as the avuncular, white-haired host who he became in later years, but he was actually only 36 when he got the job.
Meanwhile, Jay initially got the job in 1992 when he was 42.
Apparently, talk show hosts eventually get older, just like the rest of us do.
