Grey's Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9, Episode 20 Review: What Did You Think of “She’s Killing Me”?

Leading up to the Season 9 finale, not every episode of Grey’s Anatomy is going to be a game changer — Shonda Rhimes usually saves that for the finale — but tonight’s episode (Episode 20: “She’s Killing Me”) was like a slow burn.

It got off to a slow start (must we really listen to Meredith prematurely prepare for her funeral?), but the last three minutes left us wanting more... immediately. Too bad we’re going to have to wait another three weeks to find out what’s going to happen to one of our favorite docs. Will she get fired for spreading the deadly post-op infection among her patients? Only time will tell. Read on for Wetpaint Entertainment's review, and then rate it for yourself.

After Bailey tells Meredith that she tested positive for the Alzheimer’s gene — only after Mer threatens to punch her in the face — the neurotic mother freaks and starts planning her funeral. Well, not literally, but she does tell Derek to lethally inject her when she starts losing her keys. Anyway, Meredith decides she and Derek need to chose someone to care for Zola and “the fetus” if something were to happen to them. (And at Grey Sloan Memorial, anything could happen.)

But who should take care of Zola and the fetus? Cristina, obviously! However, Cristina’s idea of parenting is hiring a “hoard of German nannies.” So maybe Cristina isn’t the best choice, after all. She just doesn’t want to be a mom. (We don’t even want to know how Owen is going to react to this news.)

Speaking of Owen, he, April, and Arizona offer to help teach a crash course of basic surgical skills for two Syrian doctors, but they soon realize that the Syrian docs have even fewer tools than they anticipated. As April puts it, they have to teach these guys how to do complicated surgeries with nothing more than a “piece of gum and a match stick.”

But April can barely concentrate because she’s too busy flipping out about meeting Matthew’s mom. Oh, April. Get it together, girl.

Meanwhile, Bailey is livid when two of her patients contract nasty post-op infections thanks to her intern Leah, who happened to be sick at the time she treated the patients. However, when another patients comes in with an infection, Leah realizes she wasn’t the one responsible for it because she never treated him. Instead, he was Bailey’s patient, which means Bailey was the only common thread between all three deadly cases.

In the last scene, the Board breaks the unsettling news to Bailey. One patient has already died from the infection — are there more fatalities to come? And does this mean Bailey is going to get fired? It’s going to be a long wait, Grey’s fans!

We’d give this episode a solid 4 (saved by the last few minutes, Shonda!), but what did you think? Rate the episode for yourself, below.

I loved it!

I wanted more.
