The Voice 2013: Adam Levine and Blake Shelton Are “Scared to Death” of Shakira

Though American Idol and The X Factor are filled with divas and drama, The Voice 2013 only has one leading lady in Season 4. But doesn’t mean she can’t command attention. In fact, according to host Carson Daly, Shakira strikes fear into the hearts of the other coaches.

The show’s host recently spoke with E! News about the successful new season of the hit reality competition show, and the dynamic between the coaches. Though there were rumors that returning veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton were hazing the newbies, Carson laughed them off.

"If Blake or Adam are telling you that, they're crazy," he said. "They're all scared to death of her. First of all, Shakira was five months pregnant and she's Colombian. No one was messing with her — certainly not Adam or Blake. Usher is Usher and neither of those guys would have the courage to mess with him."

But this “fear” comes from a place of mutual respect. And that’s why Carson says you’ll never see a dramatic fight on The Voice.

"We're so above the fray," Carson said. "We don't have that in-house drama. We don't produce the show with any drama. We're not looking for that. It's just a different environment."

He even noted that a pregnant Shakira drove herself to the tapings of the blind auditions — a far cry from divas like Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.
