The Kardashians

Kardashians Suing Ex-Stepmom For Selling Scandalous Family Diaries!

The entire Kardashian family was spitting mad when Ellen Pearson Kardashian, the widow of the late Robert Kardashian, sold his alleged diaries to tabloids recently.

Now Robert’s famous children and ex-wife Kris Jenner are suing the former stepmother for releasing family material that they claim belongs to them, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The lawsuit, filed in California federal court on April 4, reportedly accuses Ellen of masterminding a "despicable and unlawful scheme to hold in secret and convert, and now exploit ... private personal and copyright protected" material.

According to THR, the family is demanding at least $500,000 in damages, plus “more in profits, statutory damages, punitive and exemplary damage.”

The Kardashian’s anger is understandable! In recent months Pierson, who married Robert Kardashian two months before he passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003, has provided tabloids with selections from Robert Kardashian’s personal journals, reportedly kept while he was still married to Kris Jenner.

Stories from these alleged journals have appeared in publications like In Touch and Life & Style, and contained shocking accusations of Kris neglecting and abusing her children.

Not only are the Kardashians furious that these stories have made headlines, they’re angry that Ellen had any of their father’s effects at all. They are claiming that Robert Kardashian bequeathed the "bulk of his personal tangible and intangible property" to his four children, Khloe, Kourtney, Rob and Kim Kardashian.

What does that mean? Evidently it was very clearly specified in Robert’s will. "Tangible" includes "clothing, jewelry, and other personal effects," "books," "works on paper," and "other items of ... personal use" and "intangible" includes "rights in literary ... properties, rights in works of art ... copyrights, publishing rights, and rights to a deceased personality's name, voice, signature, photograph, or likeness."

So, the Kardashians are suing Ellen because they believe had no right to keep possessions like her husband’s diary and family photographs. But the drama doesn’t end there.

Since Ellen did squirrel some things away, they say she most certainly should have disclosed them when she filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2010. According to the lawsuit, the fact that she didn’t disclose them and is now trying to profit from them is in essence defrauding the Court and her creditors, and proves that she had “the express intent to one-day capitalize and exploit the valuable property and celebrity of the famous Robert Kardashian."

Yikes! We’re not sure how this will all shake out, but we're sure glad this isn't a knot for us to untie. We'll leave this to the professionals.
