Grey's Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy Synopsis for Season 9, Episode 21: “Sleeping Monster”

Grey's Anatomy Season 9, Episode 20: "She's Killing Me" left us with a major cliffhanger — what will happen to Bailey (Chandra Wilson)? Season 9, Episode 21: "Sleeping Monster" won't answer that question until April 25 (sigh), but at least a new spoiler-y synopsis about the episode hints at what's next.

Here's the official synopsis of the episode:

Bailey finds herself at the center of a CDC investigation surrounding the death of several of her patients, as Jackson and the rest of the board members argue over how to address the crisis with the public. Meanwhile, Cristina teases Alex about his unspoken feelings for Jo, and Owen continues to take special care of Ethan as the condition of his parents remains uncertain.

Okay. So we assume the Bailey plotline explains the investigator that we'd previously heard is coming to Grey Sloan Memorial. The fact that the Center for Disease Control is looking into our girl does not bode well. She better not get fired — she's the heart of the hospital, right?

While the Bailey plot sounds stressful, we're really looking forward to Cristina (Sandra Oh) teasing Alex (Justin Chambers). It sounds like it'll provide some much needed comedic relief.

As for Owen continuing to take care of Ethan, it seems pretty clear that plot is eventually going to force Cristina and Owen to confront their differences over whether or not they want children. Just when they seem to be in a good place, too!
