The Vampire Diaries Cast Joins “End It” Movement

The cast of The Vampire Diaries is passionate about a lot of causes. Today Nathaniel Buzolic (Kol), Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore), and Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett) are asking their fans to stand up for a very important one in particular.

Tuesday, April 9 is END IT’s "Shine a Light on Slavery Day." An estimated 27 million men, women, and children are enslaved throughout 161 countries, including the US. According to END IT's website, modern forms of slavery include bonded labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.

Nathaniel created a video to help raise awareness, saying, “Slavery still exists. … There’s two ways this can go. We can part of a generation that continues to ignore it, pretend that 27 million people is too big a figure and you can’t put a human face to it. Or, today, we can part of a generation that finally says, ‘No. I’m aware of it, and I’m in it to end it.’”

Then he asked everyone watching to draw a red X on their hands to help raise awareness.

Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham also tweeted about the campaign.

To find out more about how you can stand up against slavery with the TVD cast, head to END IT's website.
