The Vampire Diaries Speculation: Three Hints Silas’s Plan Will Work

Oh, Silas. The Vampire Diaries’ current bad guy has a heck of a plan to do himself in.

First, the ancient immortal completed the Expression triangle — with the help of Shane (David Alpay), Bonnie (Kat Graham), Caroline (Candice Accola), and a bunch of dead people. Now he’s waiting on the cure. Then things will get complicated.

Because Silas was originally a witch, if he dies — even after taking the cure for vampirism — he won’t get to be with his girlfriend in the afterlife. Deceased supernaturals to go the Other Side, and his lady love was human. Qetsiyah, Silas’s best friend, who made the immortality spell and buried the ancient warlock with the cure, wants him to join her on the Other Side.

Silas is still a little peeved about Qetsiyah killing his girlfriend and immobilizing him for 2,000 years, so he does not want to do that. Ergo, he needs to get rid of the Other Side. Exactly how that’s accomplished is a little fuzzy, but when it happens, all the departed supernaturals will suddenly be walking around on earth. Thus would begin the supernatural apocalypse Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) was so worried about.

So will Silas’s plan succeed? We have a feeling the answer is yes. Here are three reasons why:

1. Steven R. McQueen is returning.

It’s true we may not see him as Jeremy Gilbert — maybe he’s just another Silas puppet — but if the veil is dropped, surely Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) little brother will make an appearance.

2. Arielle Kebbel’s tease.

It’s always fun to see Lexi, and Arielle Kebbel hinted at the Chicago Convention over the weekend that Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) bestie could be back in Mystic Falls soon. Sure, it could be flashback (or Arielle could just be being coy), but the blond vamp is on the Other Side thanks to Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

3. Julie Plec promised a big event.

In the Season 4 finale, the Mystic Falls crew is graduating, but it’s not the only thing scheduled for that day. She told TV Guide, “graduation falls right in the middle of a crucial supernatural time.” Sounds like a veil-lifting to us!

What do you think? Will the Other Side disappear?
