Dancing With the Stars 2013: Aly Raisman on Her Olympics Journey — “It Was Hard For Me”

Aly Raisman had an emotional week on Dancing With the Stars. The Season 16 hopeful and her pro partner Mark Ballas performed the top-scoring dance of the night, delivering a stunning Contemporary routine that featured Aly’s resilience and gymnastic talent.

Aly’s Team USA teammates — otherwise known as The Fierce Five — Gabby Douglas and Kyla Ross were even in the audience to support their captain! The judges were obviously pleased with Aly’s performance. (After all, they gave her a 27/30, which is the highest score of the competition so far!) But how did Aly feel after her performance? Here’s a snippet of Aly’s weekly blog for, in which she talks about how important her Week 4 performance was for her — and her Team USA teammates.

“This week’s theme was the most important year of your life, and for me, it was representing the U.S. at the Olympics. I’m sure a lot of people were expecting me to do a happy and upbeat routine, but I was glad that Mark allowed me to show how hard it was for me to get to the Olympics. Over the summer, people tuned in for a few hours and saw that we did really well, and we were all so happy, but they didn’t see all the hours of hard work and dedication that goes into it for so many years. It’s not easy getting there. Having Gabby [Douglas] and Kyla [Ross] there meant so much to me. They’ve been so supportive. I had fun introducing them around. And even though McKayla [Maroney] and Jordyn [Wieber] couldn’t be there, they’ve been texting me, so hopefully they can come out to the show, too.”
