Jay-Z on Critics of His Trip to Cuba with Beyonce: “You’re an Idiot”
Jay-Z may have 99 problems, but regretting his recent trip to Cuba with Beyonce ain't one.
The couple sparked controversy when they visited Cuba last week, and now Jay-Z has released a diss track in which he slams critics of his trip, according to Rolling Stone.
Three Cuban-American Republicans in Congress have asked whether Jay-Z and Beyonce actually had a license to go to Cuba, which is needed due to the current U.S. trade embargo against Cuba. Sources say that Jay-Z and Beyonce did have the proper paperwork.
Now, Jay-Z is opening up about the issue in a new song, titled "Open Letter" and produced by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz.
"Politicians never did s**t for me / Except lie to me, distort history," he raps on the song. "Want to give me jail time and a fine / Fine, let me commit a real crime."
Jay-Z doesn't directly name the three politicians who questioned his trip — Senator Marco Rubio and Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart — but it's clear he isn't pleased with what they had to say.
"You're an idiot, baby, you should become a student," Jay-Z says in the song, calling himself "the Bob Dylan of rap music."
Let's just hope we don't have to actually hear Bob Dylan try to rap anytime soon.
