Broadway drama! Crazy college escapades! There is plenty of craziness coming up in next week’s Glee Season 4, Episode 19: “Sweet Dreams,” and FOX’s promo for the episode has a sneak peek at what to expect.
We’re breaking down the entire teaser — second by second, frame by frame — in search of as many clues as possible that speak to what’s about to go down. Here’s what we’ve been able to uncover so far.
00:01 — All new next Thursday.
That’s right. No more pesky hiatuses! FOX will air the last five episode of Glee Season 4 with no additional breaks.
00:03 — Blaine is seriously worried about Regionals.
“Mr. Schue has completely lost touch,” he announces. “We’re screwed.” Also: We’d like to point out that we’re a few episodes away from the end of the season, and the New Ds haven’t even been to Regionals yet. Based on that, we’d say it’s pretty safe to assume that they’re not making it all the way to Nationals this season.
00:05 — NeNe Leakes is back!
With Sue (Jane Lynch) fired, and possibly off the show for good, Coach Roz is back to try and take her place. We love seeing sassy former Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes back. NeNe plays Rocky on one of Glee creator Ryan Murphy’s other shows, The New Normal. But now that TNN has finished filming for the season, NeNe has some free time to come back to Glee!
00:08 — College gets Glee’d!
Finn (Cory Monteith) and Puck (Mark Salling) are going to college. From the looks of things, they’re also going to be roommates. “I’m just here for my bros, some brew, and the bountiful Betties!” Nice attitude, Puck. To illustrate that point, the guys are also going to sing The Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party).” Oh, and they’re also going to do “The Harlem Shake.”
00:13 — And Broadway gets an unbelieveable audition!
Rachel (Lea Michele) is auditioning for her first big Broadway audition, and she’s going out for the role of Fanny in Funny Girl... a part made famous by Rachel’s personal idol, Barbra Streisand.
00:15 — Look who’s back!
Broadway star Idina Menzel returns to reprise her role as Rachel’s birth mom, Shelby. The award winning show choir coach comes to town to help her daughter prepare for her big audition. And what’s more, the two will sing a duet during this episode, as well.
00:21 — Rachel takes the stage.
“I’m Rachel Berry, and I’ll be singing a classic.” What classic will it be? Well, Glee’s iconic song “Don’t Stop Believin’,” of course! But don’t be fooled. It might look like Finn and all of the New Directions are back to sing alongside Rachel, but things aren’t totally as they seem.
While they are singing with her, the entire sequence only takes place in Rachel’s mind. She imagines her friends singing behind her to show their support. It doesn’t actually happen.
That said, there will definitely be some can’t miss scenes, including some adorable Finchel interaction that both Lea Michele and Cory Monteith can’t stop talking about!
