The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead’s Ex-Showrunner to Write The Shining Prequel

At least until AMC finds a way to replace him. Kidding! Kidding.

According to Deadline, Glen Mazzara — who took over as showrunner of The Walking Dead after Frank Darabont, but was replaced by Scott Gimple after Season 3 — is in talks to write The Overlook Hotel, a prequel to Stanley Kubrick's film, The Shining.

The film is being developed at Warner Bros, Deadline says, to be produced by Mythology Entertainment’s Bradley Fischer, James Vanderbilt and Laeta Kalogridis.

That's it. That's all they have at this point, but it's interesting news. Before TWD, Glen was an executive producer on another awesome show, The Shield, and he wrote several episodes for both TV series. It's good to see him in talks for another cool gig, but TWD Season 3 just ended so hopefully he's also taking some time to decompress. We know what all work and no play can do to a guy!
