In the flick, Sasha plays a high school Queen Bee named Fawcett. Not only does she have major attitude (sound familiar?), but she’s also in the running for Prom Queen. What’s going to help Fawcett win the crown? A gay best friend, of course! (“My future G.B.F. is just waiting to come out of the closet and tell me how fierce I am,” says the artist formerly known as JoJo, who also randomly stars in this movie.)
G.B.F. follows a reject high school loser (obviously) who is coerced into coming out by his friends, and his confession sends shockwaves around the school. Now the three most popular girls in school — Fawcett (Sasha), Caprice (Xosha Roquemore), and ‘Shley (Andrea Bowen) — are out to make him their gay best friend. Cue makeover montage to Tegan and Sara's "Closer!"
If it doesn’t already sound like your new favorite film, just look at this cast! Sasha stars alongside Awkward.’s Molly Tarlov, funny lady Megan Mullally, and Natasha Lyonne. It's part Mean Girls, part Easy A. In other words, it's perfect.
G.B.F. premieres on April 19 at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Watch the trailer below and tell us what you think!
