Grey’s Anatomy Calzona: Callie and Arizona’s 5 Most Emotional Moments

The search for love for our favorite Grey’s Anatomy doctors is never easy especially not for Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez). After her many messy, mismatched relationships with George (T.R. Knight), Mark (Eric Dane), and Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith), we were worried Callie might end up alone. Cue Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw). Ever since Arizona and her roller skates showed up in peds, we fell in love and Callie was soon to follow. And what a relief it was about time she finally found someone right for her.

Here are five of our favorite Calzona moments:

The first kiss (Season 5, Episode 14, “Beat Your Heart Out”): Callie’s feeling mopey, and for the first time, we get to see some of the optimism Arizona is so famous for. She promises Callie she won’t be alone forever -- people will be lining up for her when she finally drags herself out of the hole she’s dug. When Callie asks for names, Arizona kisses her, and so begins one of our favorite Grey’s relationships of all time!

First “I love you” (Season 6, Episode 8, “Invest Your Love”): Arizona’s had an awful day and was unable to save a patient who meant a lot to her when she comes home to a surprise birthday party Callie’s thrown her. Despite her best intentions, Arizona bursts into tears and leaves. When she comes back, she finds Callie waiting for her, asleep on the couch. This prompts Arizona to tell her she loves her for the first time, and Callie doesn’t hesitate in saying it back.

I can’t live without you and our ten kids (Season 6, Episode 24: “Death and All His Friends”) When there’s a shooter loose in the hospital, Callie and Arizona are on lockdown in the peds ward - and in a huge fight. Callie wants kids, and Arizona doesn’t, which leaves them at a stalemate in their relationship. But being held captive combined with the gravity of the situation at hand prompts them to realize how much they love each other, and Arizona decides she wants to have kids if it’s what Callie wants. Good thing, because baby Sofia arrives on the scene soon!

The Calzona Wedding (Season 7, Episode 20: “White Wedding”) Just about everything that can possibly go wrong in preparation for Callie and Arizona’s wedding does. Callie isn’t so sure it’s the right decision when her mom decides she will no longer support her decision to marry another woman, but Bailey saves the day, assuring her that her wedding is more than “two girls playing dress up.” One of the prettiest, happiest weddings we’ve seen on TV ensues.

Arizona finally lets Callie help her with her leg (Season 9, Episode 18: “Idle Hands”): It’s hard on Callie and Arizona when, after losing her leg in the plane crash, Arizona has to adjust to life with a prosthetic leg. One of the hardest parts of this adjustment is dealing with the phantom leg pains that she’s now plagued by. Callie, as an orthopedic surgeon, desperately wants to help her, but Arizona refuses, reminding Callie she is her wife and not her doctor. But after a particularly rough day, Arizona finally lets her help, and it only brings the couple closer.
