Mark Wahlberg Opens Up About Boston Bombings

Mark Wahlberg may play tough guys on screen, but in the wake of the Boston bombings, he’s the first to admit he’s shaken up.

The Boston-born actor told People of the attack that killed three and left over a hundred wounded, “It's just so upsetting.”

At the premiere for his new film, Pain & Gain, Mark said of the attack, “Obviously I've got a huge family and so many family and friends back in Boston. I don't know what exactly happened, and I don't know if everyone's okay. I'm just trying to be here [at the screening] and put on a brave face and just be a professional."

While no motive for the attack has been made public yet, nor has any group or individual claimed responsibility, Mark says that the tragedy, when looked at in a historical perspective, has to become the catalyst for change.

"The world obviously needs to change," said the star. “If you think about all the events over the last couple years, if we can't protect our innocent women and children, then we have a serious problem."
