Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Are “Not Divorcing”, Ozzy Is “44 Days Sober”
Amidst reports that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have split, Ozzy took to his Facebook on April 15, 2013, to set the record straight. The 64-year-old musician and reality TV star got real with his 8.3 million fans not only about his marriage, but also his recent struggles with drugs and alcohol.
Just hours after divorce reports swirled on the Interwebz, Ozzy took to the social media network to reveal some dark details about his recent past, "For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an a**hole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober." After confessing his relapse, Ozzy asked those around him for forgiveness, "I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my band mates for my insane behavior during this period………and my fans."
This news might not shock long-time Ozzy fans. The star has battled drug and alcohol addiction for the past 40 years. He told The Telegraph in 2009, that wife Sharon was a big part of why he's still alive, "If it weren't for [Sharon] without a shadow of a doubt, I would be dead." So where does Sharon fit in during yet another trying time for the aging rocker?
Ozzy plainly addressed the rumors of his split as, well, rumors, "Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I’m just trying to be a better person."
Clearly Ozzy's got a great support system around him — his online confession garnered over 11,500 shares, 141,000 likes, and nearly 21,000 comments. We admire Ozzy for being so open and wish him luck on his road to recovery.
