Before you go getting out your Parks & Rec fanfic journal, no, we are not talking about that Adam Scott. Sorry, guys. But on a bright note, the one rumored to be in consideration for the role of The Bachelor Season 18 is pretty freaking adorable himself. The 32-year-old Australian golfer just won The Masters, and was launched immediately into the spotlight for the rose-doling show by a tweet from Bachelor producer Robert Mills.
“So......Adam Scott as the next #Bachelor?? What say you, #Bachelornation?” Millsy wrote. And while he was totally teasing — since producers don’t comment on casting rumors, especially five months before the show will likely start filming — the Internet combusted with joy.
Not to be outdone, show host Chris Harrison joined in on the fun, tweeting a tongue-in-cheek poke at his signature drama. “Yep it's now officially the most dramatic #Masters ever!” Chris wrote. Continuing, “Rumors this will be settled in a hot tub instead of replaying 18th #Masters.”
Would ABC consider Adam as the next Bachelor? Well, seeing as they had a demi-celebrity a few seasons back in Charlie O’Connell, we can’t rule out casting a public figure in the role of rose-doler. Rumors last season surrounded Ryan Lochte possibly becoming the lead on the seventeenth season of the show, before Sean Lowe was chosen.
“The Adam Scott as #Bachelor idea has exploded,” Millsy tweeted after the Internet frenzy. “Will try and meet. And Ryan Lochte-this is what it means to have interest in you as #Bachelor.” A source close to the show told E! News, “We are definitely going to pursue [Scott]. So far, no meeting's been set but we're trying. He could be a perfect fit...We're also considering other people Bachelor fans already know.”
The franchise has cast past season favorites as the next season’s chief love-seeker, but maybe this will be the season that things change? With NBC show putting a famous face in the hot seat — Tim Lopez of band The Plain White T’s — it could give ABC a leg up.
Plus, wouldn’t having a pro athlete on during prime love time make everyone’s boyfriends a little bit more interested in joining their ladies on the couch? What do you think. Would you tune in?
