Grey's Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy’s Kevin McKidd Is the New Batman — But There’s a Twist!

Kevin McKidd is trading in his Grey’s Anatomy scrubs for a unitard and a cape, playing the ultimate superhero: Batman!

However, he isn’t stepping into Christian Bale’s big shoes for a new blockbuster role, but rather voicing the animated version for the upcoming film Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

According to TV Guide, Kevin (aka Chief Owen Hunt) is teaming up with co-star Justin Chambers (Alex Karev) to save the world in the adaptation of 2011 comic book mini-series Flashpoint. This straight-to-DVD movie will be released on July 30 on Blu-ray, DVD, On Demand, and digital download formats.

Justin plays the Flash, the “super-speedster hero whose life is thrown into chaos when the reality around him suddenly changes into a world where the Justice League was never formed, Superman is unknown and Aquaman and Wonder Woman are waging a vicious war against each other that is tearing apart Europe.” Eek! Doesn’t sound like the stories we know and love.

Kevin’s version of Batman is not what you’d expect, either. Apparently, in this alternate reality, “it’s not who you expect wearing the mask.” But hey, we’re used to seeing him in a surgical mask, so we’ll be surprised either way.

The Grey’s stars aren’t the only familiar voices in Justice League, though. Castle’s Nathan Fillion, Friday Night Lights and Parenthood alum Michael B. Jordan, and Body of Proof’s Dana Delany also appear, among many others.

Will you be watching the Grey’s stars in animated action? Tell us below!
