Jada Pinkett Smith Confuses With Comments on Open Marriage Rumors

If you thought the storyline to the Matrix was confusing, it’s nothing compared to Jada Pinkett Smith’s answer to the question “Do you and husband Will Smith have an open marriage?”

In a video interview with HuffPost Live, Jada said of the rumor, “No, I think people get that idea [that they have an open relationship] because Will and I are very relaxed with each other. I’ve always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay.”

Okay, so the answer is no, right? She even said, “No.” But then she followed up her interview with statements that confused the issue even more. Jada wrote on her Facebook page:

Open marriage?

Let me first say this, there are far more important things to talk about in regards to what is happening in the world than whether I have an open marriage or not. I am addressing this issue because a very important subject has been born from discussions about my statement that may be worthy of addressing.

The statement I made in regard to, “Will can do whatever he wants,” has illuminated the need to discuss the relationship between trust and love and how they co-exist.

Here is how I will change my statement…Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship…this means we have a GROWN one.

So, the answer is…wait, what is the answer?

The capital letters certainly seem to imply that she’s telling it like it is, but we’re having a hard time finding the answer. We totally appreciate that she and her husband trust each other so much. That’s respect on a very amazing level — however if they do have an open or grown marriage, doesn’t that tug on the heartstrings?

We’re the first to admit that it’s actually none of our business and that Will and Jada don’t owe anyone answers. Open or monogamous — we support their decision either way!
