Joel McHale: “It’s Flattering” When People Think I’m Gay

Did you even know there were rumors that Joel McHale was gay?

Community star had a great Q&A with The Advocate, discussing the show's ardent gay fans, and how some people think he is gay even though he's been married to a woman named Sarah Williams since 1996.

As the magazine noted in the Q&A, "You once told The Advocate that some people believe you are gay because you dress so well." Joel responded, "Oh, I still see that on Twitter every day. It’s flattering. I always find it really weird when guys flip out over someone thinking they might be gay. If a guy gets offended by that, there’s something’s wrong with him. I take it as a compliment." Good for him! It's not really a judgment call one way or the other if you're gay or straight. It doesn't make you better or worse, or more or less interesting. It's just the way it is. But good for him for calling out guys who get upset at the idea.

The Advocate also asked if Joel had a "dude crush." Joel said, probably half-joking, "Ooh, boy, I have so many. Josh Gad. Brian Williams. Patrick Stewart. Nathan Fillion. Kobe Bryant. Chaz Bono." Nice. Now we're already shipping Joel McHale/Nathan Fillion. Make it so!
