Okay, it’s official, Music City is the new Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). What? Well, hear us out. Nashville is our favorite show and even though the stories aren’t about, like, your neighbor’s super talented kid who’s gonna make it despite all odds, it sort of is. But some people want to tell their story in a different way (looking at you, Barnes), and so they wanna make it all about themselves and whatever. Enter the folks behind The Real Housewives of Orange County and Beverly Hills.
No, seriously, they’re going to enter Nashville. According to a TNT press release, production company Evolution Media, which is responsible for the California-based Housewives shows (you’re welcome, by the way) are launching an unscripted series set in Nashville. Nashville Confidential will begin airing in 2014 on TNT and will “go behind the scenes in the ‘Country Music Capital of the World.’”
Hmm, okay, well that doesn’t sound too much like it wants to rival the fictional world of Callie Khouri’s ABC hit, or like it might quickly become a show focused on catty competition. Except that the description reads, “Centering on some of Nashville’s most compelling power couples, the show provides an alluring and unprecedented glimpse behind the scenes of one of America’s most unique, vibrant and competitive cities.”
So far, only eight episodes of the docu-drama have been ordered. We’ll have to wait until next year to find out just how much it has in common with Nashville — and Housewives.
