Seth MacFarlane Asked to Return as 2014 Oscars Host: Report
Should we get ready for more videos about seeing people's boobs?
Seth MacFarlane has reportedly been asked to return as the host of next year's Oscars, according to Just Jared.
The 39-year-old Family Guy creator may have offended more than a few people with his raunchy material as the host of this year's ceremony, but it's hard to argue with results. So the fact that 40.3 million people tuned in this year — which is a significant uptick from last year's show hosted by Billy Crystal — is hard to ignore.
And now that last year's Oscar telecast producers have been invited back to run the 2014 show, it appears that they want Seth to come with them.
“After defending his performance, the producers reached out to Seth and invited him back to host the show again,” sources say. “He’s not sure if he’s going to do it, but he has to decide within the next couple of weeks.”
This is certainly an interesting development, as Seth — when asked right after this year's show if he would ever host again — had said, "No way." Hmmm.
Seth certainly has a lot on his plate these days. He is scheduled to begin directing and starring in a Western comedy with Charlize Theron later this year, and there is also a sequel in development for his surprise hit Ted. Plus, we're pretty sure he has a TV show or ten that he's involved with.
So do you think this news is freakin' sweet? Or do you want the show to find someone else — Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, perhaps?
