Carrie Underwood Gives Teen With Brain Tumor “Best Night of My Life”
Former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood gave a very special gift to a teen fan with a brain tumor on Saturday. The reality TV contestant turned country superstar met with 18-year-old Haley Gort before her concert in Jacksonville, Florida to fulfill her Make-A-Wish Foundation dream of meeting her favorite performer.
"I wouldn’t pick anyone else," Haley said, according to mlive.com. "I really wanted to meet her.”
The Make-A-Wish Foundation flew Haley and her mother, Jodi Gort, from Michigan to Florida for Carrie Underwood’s concert with help from the organization’s Wishes in Flight program. Carrie donated backstage passes for the two and took photos with Haley. The teen’s mom calls her daughter a “crazed fan” of the country singer.
Prior to meeting Carrie, Haley’s Twitter page tagline read: “I LOVE Carrie Underwood. My goal in life is to meet her, and it will happen.” Now the tagline has been changed to read: “I LOVE Carrie Underwood. I met her on April 20th 2013 and she has tweeted me twice!”
In a message posted to her Twitter feed, Haley couldn’t gush enough about meeting her real life American Idol. “Best night of my life. I will never forget it! @CarrieUnderwood you don’t know how much that meant to me! #amazing”
