Game of Thrones Season 3, Episode 4: [SPOILER] Is Killed!
Game of Thrones spoiler alert! This article contains spoilers for Game of ThronesSeason 3, Episode 4: "And Now His Watch Is Ended". Don't read on if you don't want to know.
Tonight's Game of Thrones (Season 3, Episode 4: "And Now His Watch Is Ended") brought this season's first major death: Lord Commander Jeor Mormont, leader of the Night's Watch, was slaughtered in a riot sparked by rebellious members of his own Watch.
As we saw in last’s week’s Episode 3: "Walk of Punishment," the few Night’s Watch members who remained after the slaughter at the Fist of the First Men were camped out at Craster's Keep. In tonight’s episode they were not happy with that situation. They were hungry, freezing, overworked, and generally creeped out by Craster and his incest-y ways.
After one of the Night's Watch members starved to death, things reached a breaking point. In anger over their fallen comrade and poor treatment, the more rebellious members of the Watch insulted Craster to his face, inciting a brawl. Craster was killed. Mormont fought bravely, but was also purposefully felled by one of his own rebellious men. We guess that's the kind of thing that happens when the Watch is made almost entirely of criminals.
Well, at least Sam escaped with Gilly and her baby!
