X Factor 2013: Mario Lopez Will Return — But NOT Khloe Kardashian!
UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly got a statement to confirm it. Khloe is out.
Fans of The X Factor probably remember those bleak days when Season 2 began and there was, um, no host. As FOX scrambled to secure a dream team to work the mic and distract from Britney Spears’s faces, much speculation went around about who would be ideal. Mario Lopez was a primo choice, seeing as he has done mic duty on a number of shows, and still has an Extra slot on lock. And fans of Amario should be stoked — he’s been confirmed for Season 3!
“I’m looking forward to returning to The X Factor team,” Mario said in a statement released on April 22. “We’re coming back stronger and better than ever and I'm excited to check out all the new talent.” We’re pretty positive that he’s referring to replacements for departed Season 2 judges Britney Spears and L.A. Reid, but we’re a bit worried that Khloe Kardashian hasn’t been confirmed as a co-host.
“I’m thrilled Mario is back for Season Three of The X Factor,” Simon Cowell added. “Hosting a live show and keeping the judges — especially Demi (Lovato) — in line, is not an easy job, but Mario is a pro and we are glad he’s coming back.”
While Khloe fumbled a bit on color commentary last season, and was pretty awkward overall, we had high hopes for her return. The Kardashian family members were frequent guests in the audience, and Khloe’s popularity and involvement in the show are possible reasons that it was renewed. Without Britney on the judge’s panel, Demi would be all alone in grabbing the key demographic of 18-34 year-old-women, without Khloe to help.
What do you think: will you still watch without Khloe? Do you think she’ll come back for Season 3? If not, who would be a good co-host for Mario? Share all your thoughts below.
