American Idol Alum Jon Peter Lewis Hits The Voice 2013 Battle Rounds

Former American Idol Season 3 contestant Jon Peter Lewis is still going strong on The Voice 2013 in his second attempt to win a reality TV competition crown. Jon and Midas Whale duo partner Ryan Hayes head into the battle rounds this week against rival team Adam Levine member Patrick Dodd.

Jon made it all the way to the Top 8 on American Idol Season 3 way back in 2004. He was never really as appreciated as we thought he should be, especially by former judge Simon Cowell, who called Jon a “pen salesman” during one critique. After his time on Idol, Jon met Ryan Hayes at an open mic night. When Jon invited Ryan to group up, he replied, “Might as well” — a response that was quickly morphed into their new duo name, Midas Whale.

Midas Whale and Patrick Dodd will be battling it out with an Elvis Presley song on The Voice 2013 this evening. As mjsbigblog points out, Jon Peter Lewis obviously has a pretty strong grip on Elvis Presley — he performed two songs by The King during his stint on American Idol Season 3.

Because we’re American Idol fanatics over here, we are — of course — rooting for Midas Whale to win. Even if they don’t, however, we hope one of The Voice 2013 coaches will snap them up in a steal. We highly doubt Midas Whale will make it all the way to the finale, but we’ll be here cheering for them as long as they are in the competition!
