Reese Witherspoon Cancels On-Air Appearances in Wake of DUI Arrest
Reese Witherspoon may seem to have it all, but following her arrest during a DUI stop over the weekend, it seems her perfect world may be falling apart — and she’s staying out of the spotlight until everything blows over.
The actress and her husband, talent agent Jim Toth, were pulled over in Atlanta on Friday night, when cops spotted Jim swerving across lanes in his car. The pair were subsequently arrested — Jim for DUI, Reese for disorderly conduct.
In the wake of the arrest, Reese has canceled her appearances on Good Morning America and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where she would have been promoting her latest flick, Mud, an indie co-starring Matthew McConaughey.
While Reese has started to do damage control following the arrest, in which she allegedly displayed some surprisingly diva-like behavior, asking officers, “Do you know my name?” among other things, it seems she’s unwilling to talk too much about the embarrassing incident.
Despite her reluctance to dish with Fallon and the GMA crews about how many pinot grigios it takes to unleash her inner prima donna, Reese still put on a brave face on Sunday, attending the premiere of Mud, albeit in a somber mood and equally somber dress.
Reese refused to talk to any reporters as she walked the red carpet into the premiere, but it was fine — they already knew her name.
