On April 22, Team Usher‘s soul singer Ryan Innes and R&B singer Orlando Dixon crooned a duet to the hit song “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers. Both Usher and mentor Pharrell Williams felt that both men lacked what the other had — Orlando had the technique, but none of the conviction, while Ryan expressed the pain and longing, but fell short in technique.
During their last rehearsal, Usher found himself already torn between the two, and the battle round didn’t make it any easier. When Usher was asked to make his decision, he chose Ryan. As Orlando thanked Usher for all that he’s learned, coach Adam Levine came in for the steal.
