The Bachelor

Sean Lowe Tweets “I Don’t Like Religion”

Knowing Season 17 Bachelor Sean Lowe in the Biblical sense (well, sort of), we’ve always figured that the son of a preacher man would be the first one to jump up on a platform in front of a bunch of randoms and start yelling about his beliefs. Which, um, he already did in The Bachelorette Season 8, when he told people what he thought about love while in a foreign country.

But he isn’t done yet. Besides tweeting about Jesus, the blond Christian dancing machine sent a very confusing tweet on April 20 saying, “never claimed to be religious. I don't like religion. Keeps people from the truth.”

Color us confused. We’re guessing this is one of those “faith versus religion” conversations. In college, Sean was a member of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Kansas State University. Fiancée Catherine Giudici also has a relationship with the Man Upstairs. In fact, when she’s home in the Pacific Northwest, Catherine has been known to attend Blue Sky Church in Bellevue, Washington with her best friend (and future maid of honor!).

The tweet was written in the context of a conversation that started with a tweet saying, “I'm a selfish, greedy, prideful man who has been made new through Jesus. Fame and money are fleeting but His love endures forever. #mystory.” So, while we admire Sean for trying to clarify where he stands on religion, faith, and G-O-D by giving a possibly unpopular opinion, maybe 140 characters isn’t the clearest way to do so.

Knowing Sean and his way with words, we’re betting that any day now he’ll give us a whole lotta context. Perhaps he should be looking to stick around television after Dancing With The Stars is over. We can see a reality show in the works now: Lessons on Life and Lifting with Sean Lowe.
