Dancing With The Stars

Ryan Lochte Claims He Turned Down Dancing With the Stars 2013 — Relieved or Disappointed?

There was a time we were all “Heck Jeah!” about having Olympic stud Ryan Lochte on Dancing With the Stars. That was back in August, when his 15 minutes were about at a seven. There's no denying the man still looks good shirtless, and his adorable doofus persona would be amusing on DWTS, but he’s now claiming he dumped us ... and we’re not even that hurt.

"They asked me if I would [do The Bachelor] or Dancing With The Stars," Ryan told E! News. "And I was like, 'why don't I just have my own reality TV show, and just put it all in there myself?' Do it my own way."

Now he does have his own reality TV show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do?, and when it's not making news anchors laugh behind his back, it's airing on Sunday nights on E! However, before you start thinking this is all just part of his master plan, a Bachelor producer shot down the idea that Ryan was ever invited to do that show, and we can't be sure he was absolutely offered a spot on DWTS either. He might've been up for consideration, but ABC never comments on DWTS casting rumors. Then again, there's only one spot for the Bachelor and half a dozen male spots available for DWTS Season 16, so it's possible they really did want him in the mix instead of, say, two comedians.

Are you disappointed that Ryan "chose" to have his own show instead of doing DWTS? Do you think he could still be relevant enough to do the show on a future season? Not everyone was thrilled when the real cast of DWTS Season 16 was revealed, but we’re pretty fond of this group, just as they are.
