The Voice’s Adam Levine Calls Competition With American Idol “Stupid S–t”

Though plenty of reality shows have attempted to capitalize on the success of American Idol and Star Search, The Voice and The X Factor are the only shows that have been able to produce comparable ratings.

Recently The Voice has been dominating Idol ratings in the NBC show’s fourth season. At The NBC Summer Press Day, Adam Levine was asked about the rivalry between the two music competitions.

“We don’t get involved in a stupid s–t like that,” he replied. “What’s the point? We love our show. [Idol] is an institution…At one point it was getting bigger ratings than we’ve ever gotten. So we don’t think about that when we make our show. We think about making our show as good as it could possibly be.”

Apparently Adam is adopting the positive attitude The Voice promotes to its contestants. Original Idol coach and X Factor creator, Simon Cowell, has publicly insulted The Voice before, but the NBC show is letting its numbers speak for themselves these days.
