Dancing With the Stars 2013: Aly Raisman “Embarrassed” by Len’s Butt Criticism

Heading into Week 7, Dancing With the Stars 2013 contestant Aly Raisman is Season 16’s wild card. She and her pro partner Mark Ballas have consistently performed well in the ballroom, but she has yet to receive her first 10 — unlike her competitors Kellie Pickler and Zendaya.

Aly has one of the most charismatic personalities of the competition, but what the Olympic gold medalist needs to work on is her form. After her Week 6 Foxtrot, judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli were quick to point out Aly’s problem area — her butt! (Len told her she needs to “tuck it in.”) However, Aly wasn’t so comfortable hearing the criticism on live television.

In her latest blog for Parade, the Olympian revealed how funny she thought the comment really was.

“I was a little embarrassed when Len and Bruno mentioned my butt this week, because there are millions of people watching. But I thought it was funny, because in gymnastics, the judges always talk about that too. When I’m finishing a movement, I would always arch my back and stick my butt out too much, and they would always tell me that I need to really stick it under. It’s just one of those habits. Even Mark was saying that he felt my hips tucked under. I think all gymnasts have the same problem. Muscly butts, what can you do?”
