Adrianne Haslet-Davis, Dancer Who Lost Foot in Boston Bombings, to Make Dancing With the Stars Debut
Get ready to be inspired by Adrianne Haslet-Davis. The 32-year-old dance instructor lost her left foot in the Boston Marathon bombings, and she'll be featured on Dancing With the StarsSeason 16 on Week 7.
DWTS host Tom Bergeron shared the news on Week 6, adding, “We were all very moved by her inspirational outlook. We’ll tell you how we hope to be part of her recovery.”
“Dancing is my life," Adrianne told the Boston Herald. "Yeah, having my foot blown off, that really sucks. But I can’t wallow in woe is me." Interesting coincidence: DWTS Season 16's Aly Raisman (who is also from the Boston area) and pro Mark Ballas did some dance training at Arthur Murray Studio in Park Plaza, where Adrianne works.
DWTS pro Derek Hough told the Boston Herald he would love to dance with Adrianne on DWTS, whenever she is ready. “It’s hard for anyone to really quite understand what she must be going through and what she’s going to go through with rehab and getting her balance back,” Derek said. “But if she has the determination and she has the passion — and it sounds like she does — she’s going to run that marathon and she’s going to be dancing again. It’s not going to slow her down.
Good luck to Adrianne! We're looking forward to seeing her next week, and following her journey.
