Jason Aldean and Wife Split After Cheating Scandal With American Idol Contestant — Report

Country star Jason Aldean and wife Jessica Ussery have reportedly separated seven months after a cheating scandal involving former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr. Jason Aldean and Jessica Ussery split back in January, according to Us Weekly.

"There were obvious problems before the bar kiss, but he finally left earlier this year," a source told the publication.

Jason was photographed grinding on and kissing Brittany at The Den bar in Hollywood last fall. After the pics hit the press, the country singer claims he drank too much and "screwed up" when he made out with the former American Idol contestant.

"I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites," he wrote. "The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar."

"I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story," Aldean continued. "I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support.”

Brittany Kerr, an alum of American Idol Season 11 and a cheerleader for the Charlotte Bobcats, said the incident was a “lapse in judgment on my part” but claimed she was unaware Jason Aldean was married when she was macking on him.

Jason left the bar alone that fateful night and both of the parties involved deny things went any further than groping and kissing. The marriage allegedly never really recovered, despite assurances from the couple that they were working through the cheating scandal.

A rep for Jason did admit to the press that the couple are having serious issues, but refused to confirm divorce proceedings are in the works.

"I can confirm that Jason and his wife are having problems, but there is nothing more to share at this time. It's a private family matter, and we hope everyone will respect that he would like to keep it that way."

Jason and his likely soon-to-be-ex wife have been married since 2001 and have two children together, Keeley and Kendyl.
