Fifty Shades of Grey Casting: Skins’s Kaya Scodelario Says No to Ana
Some actresses aren't comfortable showing "skin" — even if it means missing out on a big movie role.
Skins star Kaya Scodelario says that she is not interested in appearing in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, according to Metro.
The 21-year-old British actress has never been one of the top frontrunners for the role of Anastasia Steele, but she definitely has had her supporters.
Mind you, it's not that Kaya had been offered a role in the film. However, she says the subject matter and steamy scenes have put her off from even wanting to be in it.
"I’m not comfortable doing nudity," she says. "That’s something quite personal. My mum’s always asked me not to do it, and I respect her." It's always good to listen to your mum.
"I’m nowhere near confident enough in myself," Kaya continues. "Considering what Fifty Shades is about, I wouldn’t be able to."
We respect an actress for standing by what she believes in, even though this movie is clearly going to be a blockbuster.
Kaya rose to fame by playing Effy Stonem on the British soap Skins. She has also appeared in the film Clash of the Titans and will be seen in the much-anticipated film adaptation of The Maze Runner.
It's possible that Kaya shouldn't even worry about being offered the role of Ana.
After all, Jennifer Lawrence is said to be Fifty Shades producers' top choice to play the female lead. Whether an Oscar winner like Jennifer would actually accept the racy role is another story.
Alex Pettyfer is rumored to have been offered the role of Christian Grey, but that has not yet been confirmed.
One film, so many casting rumors!
