The Voice 2013: Best Performance From the Season 4 Knockout Rounds, April 29, 2013 (VIDEO)

The knockout rounds debuted last night on The Voice 2013 and we were actually blown away by the talent. Celebrity coaches Adam Levine and Shakira were forced to make some painful cuts moving into the live shows, and we still haven’t fully recovered.

NBC should really start deploying therapists to our homes after some favorites are eliminated, because it’s their fault that we’ve grown so attached. But back to the talent.

New Team Shakira member Sasha Allen closed out the night with her tear-inspiring rendition of Etta James’s “At Last.” She’s not the most verbose contestant during the coach commentary, but that’s probably because she’s too busy expressing herself in every note and lyric.

Coach favorite Judith Hill impressed us once again with her creative song choice of Willie Nelson’s “Always on My Mind,” proving that her signature sound can cross genres as effortlessly as her voice flits from note to note.

After being montaged in her blind audition and battle round, we were ecstatic to finally see former acapella singer Amy Whitcomb finally take the stage singing “House of the Rising Sun.” Her powerhouse vocals made us sad to see her go home after coffeehouse songbird Caroline Glaser won Adam’s heart.

But the best overall knockout performance has to go to Team Adam’s Amber Carrington and Midas Whale. We hate Adam for pitting these two talented, and drastically different contestants against each other.

Amber blew us away with her heartfelt cover of Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You” and Midas Whale continued to up their game with Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground.” In the end Amber’s passion beat the folk duo’s charm, but we were devastated to see them go.

Watch the clip and tell us if you think this is the best overall performance.
