Once Upon a Time Season 2: What Is the Showrunners’ Biggest Regret?
Season 2 ofOnce Upon a Timehas had its share of issues: the introduction of too many new characters, the neglect of old favorites, and August’s creepy wooden neck, to name a few. What did OUAT co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis call their biggest Season 2 regret? TV Line has the answer, and it's...
The weapon of choice for evil, magic-hunting fiancees everywhere had fans scratching their heads. How, exactly, did Tamara's taser kill magical, wooden August? After Season 2, Episode 18: “Selfless, Brave, and True” the writers quickly realized there was confusion, and clarified on Twitter that the weapon was not your regular, run-of-the-mill taser.
Judging by the fact that it took out The Dragon, the taser seems to have some sort of magic-sapping ability. Unfortunately, this explanation did not come before the Internet erupted with comments on the absurdity of killing a wooden man with electricity. Looking back, Adam and Eddy said that if they could change one thing about Season 2, it would be the use of the magical taser as a plot device.
“When we sat down to do this, we thought, ‘We need a real-world weapon,’” Eddy said. “And in the moment of making that decision, we never realized the backlash that would [come]…. We just figured the audience would assume, ‘Oh, it’s not a [regular] taser.’ But they did not.”
Adam clarified further: “The simplest way to think about it is [August] wasn’t electrocuted; the device did something else to him.” Eddy and Adam have teased before that we will see the taser again and its true power will be revealed. That doesn’t sound good for our favorite Storybrooke residents!
