Reese Witherspoon to Pay $213 Fine, Husband to Attend Alcohol Program: Report
Reese Witherspoon wasn’t in court today, but TMZ says her lawyer entered a plea of no contest after her disorderly conduct arrest. She will have to pay a fine of $213, but that’s it.
Her husband, Jim Toth, was present and pled guilty for his DUI. He blew a .139 on his sobriety test when the legal limit in Georgia is .08. The judge reportedly told him, "Consider yourself fortunate you didn't injure your passenger and didn't kill anyone." According to TMZ, he won’t go to jail, but he has to perform 40 hours of community service and attend an alcohol education program. He's also been placed on probation for 12 months.
Today, Reese was on Good Morning America and admitted she was "disrespectful" and "said all kinds of crazy things" to the police officer. She knows better. As TMZ put it, “This is an unusual move for celebrities, who often try and spin their legal woes.” So they get props for taking full responsibility (take a note, Lindsay Lohan!), but not for the actions that got them here in the first place.
