Why Isn’t Finn in Glee Season 4, Episode 21: “Wonder-ful”?

During May 2’s Glee Season 4, Episode 21: "Wonder-ful" — the Stevie Wonder tribute — Rachel (Lea Michele) was hard at work preparing for her Funny Girl callback in NYC. Over in Ohio, the New Directions were busy getting ready for Regionals.

Normally, we’d assume that Finn (Cory Monteith) would play a role in both storylines. Rachel’s consulted him for help and encouragement in the past, and Finn has basically become an honorary coach of the New Directions. But nope. Nothing.

Finn does not appear in this episode at all. And while the
Glee creators had originally planned for him to be a big part of the storyline, outside factors got in the way. In the last few days of March, actor Cory Monteith made the decision to check himself into rehab for substance abuse issues. As a result, he was not able to participate in Episode 21 or Glee’s Season 4 finale — Episode 22: "All Or Nothing."

That said,
Glee representatives have already stated that they are excited to have Cory return for Season 5 next year. The Glee star has already completed his 30 days in rehab (give or take a few days), and he’s currently back home spending time with his family in Canada, with girlfriend Lea Michele in tow! And yes, it is as adorable as it sounds. We have the photos and videos to prove it.
