Time to break out a "Welcome Home" banner for Ja Rule.
According to TMZ, the rapper was released from Ray Brook Federal Prison in New York this morning after serving close to two years in jail for attempted illegal gun possession and tax evasion (he failed to pay taxes on more than $3 million in earnings).
TMZ says Ja (real name Jeffrey Atkins), age 37, was picked up by his wife and taken straight home, where he'll stay on home confinement until July 28. He was supposed to get out in July, but he was released early.
Ja has had feuds with 50 Cent and Eminem, among others, and he's been arrested before, but he's also been married to the same woman — Aisha Murray — since 2001 and they have three kids together. It will probably be a culture shock to be back home again after two years in prison, but he has a lot to live right for, if he can stay out of trouble.
