First things first. Taking the cure will make Kat as vulnerable as a newborn kitten. That would greatly increase Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) odds in the “I want to murder my doppelganger” plot. For this reason alone, we hope Katherine manages to avoid the cure. While it doesn’t make much sense for her to stick around Mystic Falls all the time, it’s always fun to see her pop in and be nasty to everyone.
If Katherine took the cure and managed to avoid Elena’s wrath, it would certainly be an interesting twist. Perhaps the new vamp would feel pity for the born-again human. Certainly Miss Pierce would need some protection after all her years as an immortal. It’s unlikely she’d be able to bite her wicked tongue most of the time, and many of Mystic Falls’ residents don’t appreciate being sassed. It’d be fun watching Katherine try to down bourbon without her vamp tolerance.
With Klaus (Joseph Morgan) starting a family of his own, he might be less obsessed with her hybrid-making doppelganger blood. Then again, he might try to forcefully take Katherine to New Orleans so he could create his own army to battle against Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). However, it’s unlikely Nina Dobrev could pull double duty on both TVD and The Originals.
If Bonnie (Kat Graham) is a witch of her word, then Qetsiyah could always do her magic and turn Katherine back into an all-powerful immortal. What a waste of a cure, though. Rebekah (Claire Holt) would be furious.
